The BCLS Program staff will conduct a comprehensive intake screening to ensure that potential program participants meet the basic eligibility requirements of the program. The intake screening will include the review of the initial application and the collection of supporting documentation.
Documentation verifying the potential client’s identity (Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Picture ID) will be requested or obtained from other sources available. A criminal record will be obtained from the county or city in which the potential resident spent the most time. Other documentation will be requested from prior service providers to further substantiate the need and appropriateness for BCLS services. If an applicant is found not appropriate for the program, community referrals will be made for that individual. Information will be gathered on the client’s support networks and the extent to which the people involved with the resident would be willing and able to help. The initial intake will inform the resident about the program and its services and the appropriateness of services for the resident. Each intake interview will last approximately 1 hour.
