Veterans Collaborative Living Program ( VCLP )

"The Delores House"

Delores Fleming (1930 - 2000) exemplified the meaning of compassion and charity. She was always willing to show kindness to those around her.  "The Delores House" has been a safe haven in the Roseland Community since 1974.  Delores Fleming's passion and vision resulted in a life of self sacrifice and devotion.  In her honor, we keep the lights on.
The Delores House is a Veterans Collaborative Living Arrangement which offers temporary, safe, and affordable, housing for veterans awaiting transition to permanent housing.
Our program encourages and assists participants to become and remain financially self-sufficient through community and spiritual principles.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Must be at least 21 years of age upon entrance into the program.
  • Must have valid identification (i.e., Id Card, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, Passport, etc) 
  • Must be a resident of Cook County for priority assistance.
  • Must be willing to abide by all expectations and regulations of the program.
  • Must receive Social Security benefits, VA benefits or have income sufficient to pay the rent.
  • Must receive Food Stamps or been denied Food Stamps due to income.
  • Must have two positive landlord references.
  • Must have no evictions for non-payment of rent within the past 5 years.
  • Must have no prior rental history involving destruction of property or disorderly conduct. 
  • Must have no prior felony convictions within the past 10 years. 
  • Must have no active involvement with drugs or alcohol.
  • Must not be considered a danger to self or others.
